Seahouses is renowned for the extensive variety of attractions, natural beauty. The most prominent feature and the focal point of the village is the colourful harbour, from where the Farne Islands can be seen on the horizon. Long ago the prosperity of the village came from lime. Evidence of this can still be seen in the form of the massive lime kilns built on the harbour front. Nowaday boats sail from the harbour taking tourists to cruise around the Farne Islands to view the grey seal colony and the home to 70,000 pairs of nesting birds at close quarters. The long unbroken sandy beach stretches from Seahouses to Bamburgh providing an enjoyable walk for the more energetic visitor. It is a centre for sailing, diving and fishing.
