Wooler - Central Northumberland

Wooler NorthumberlandWooler is an important market town situated just to the east of the Cheviot Hills and south of the border with Scotland. It looks eastward across the valley of the Till and is a thriving centre with shops and accommodation.

Popular with walkers and the many tourists who come to stay in North Northumberland it provides an ideal centre for exploring this beautiful area of Northumberland. Situated on the edge of the Northumberland National Park and standing at the foothills of the Cheviots amidst evidence of battlefields and fortified farmhouses known a bastles. The beauty and remoteness of the surrounding scenery is breathtaking making it a popular base for walkers.

To the north of Wooler there are small communities at Kirknewton and Cornhill on Tweed. To the south you can visit Rothbury, Alnwick (including the world famous Alnwick Castle) and other historic Northumberland towns.

The beaches at Bamburgh and Seahouses are about 24 miles to the east.
