Pennine Way Across The Cheviots - Northumberland

crossing the CheviotsThe Cheviots can be crossed in one day but it would be a long hard walk with little opportunity for breaks. Basically the Cheviot is the last two sections of the Pennine way, numbers 18 and 19.

Section 18
Byrness to Clennell Street
Steady if unspectacular climbs across true wilderness.

Section 19
Clennel Street to Kirk Yetholm
This section includes the Cheviot itself and from there a drop down to the refuge hut besides Red Cribs with its view of the Hen hole. After this a short climb up onto the Schil and then western hills of the College Valley including Eccles Cairn and the hillfort at Ring Chesters. After this its mostly down hill to Kirk Yetholm.
