Holiday Cottage Description

Originally farm worker's dwellings, these spacious stone cottages are situated on a working farm and enjoy splendid views in all directions. They lie 1 mile from the hamlet of Lorbottle and approximately 5 miles from Rothbury in the heart of Northumberland. This is a lovely secluded and peaceful setting, the surrounding countryside being particularly attractive with gently rolling hills rising to the Cheviots in the north whilst to the south the ground falls to the beautiful Coquet valley with the Simonside Hills beyond. The unspoilt market town of Rothbury nestles on the banks of the River Coquet. The origins of the town date back to long before the Norman Conquest. Nowadays it has a good range of shops, pubs and cafes. Down by the river there are some charming riverside walks and the opportunity to fish for trout and salmon. This is a good location from which to visit the area's many attractions. Cragside House and gardens, former home of Lord Armstrong, was the first house to be lit by hydro-electric power, is 6 miles. Alnwick with its castle and gardens 15 miles. The Heritage coast, Hadrian's Wall and Kielder Water are all within 40 minutes by car. Excellent golf, pony trekking and riding available locally.
