Holiday Cottage Description

In the hamlet of Akeld surrounded by splendid countryside, this 19th century Grade II listed single storey stone cottage offers comfortable, tastefully furnished accommodation on the edge of the Northumberland National Park. This is a wonderful location for walkers and cyclists, the nearby Cheviots providing numerous footpaths and bridleways, the remote and beautiful College Valley which leads up to the Cheviot itself being just 4 miles away. There is a narrow gauge railway and working cornmill at Heatherslaw, whilst at Chillingham 10 miles can be found the only herd of wild cattle in Europe. The splendid Heritage coastline is 17 miles, Alnwick Castle with its spectacular gardens, and Berwick upon Tweed are within 30 minutes drive. The Border region offers some fine stately homes and historic abbeys within a short drive on quiet country roads. Wooler is 2.5 miles. Golf, fishing, riding and gliding all available locally.
