Holiday Cottage Description

This fine holiday home is created from a handsome 19th century building, exposed beams and original features have been retained and it is furnished and equipped to a high standard. Situated in a lovely riverside setting on the southern fringe of the attractive market town of Rothbury in the upper Coquet Valley. Rothbury is in the lee of the Simonside hills where, together with some truly superb surrounding countryside, there are endless opportunities for excellent walking on the fells, or along the many miles of unspoilt bridleways and footpaths. To the west, the River Coquet winds up a picturesque broad and fertile valley towards the moorlands of the Northumberland National Park and the Cheviot Hills. On the outskirts of Rothbury is Cragside, the splendid Victorian mansion and estate, formerly the home of Lord Armstrong and now owned by the National Trust. Rothbury offers a range of shops and good village pubs and coffee shops, all within walking distance. Also available locally are horse riding, fishing, golf, mountain biking and a new indoor swimming pool and sports complex in nearby Alnwick.
