Holiday Cottage Description

Located close to the Northumberland/Cumbrian border this barn conversion provides accommodation in a peaceful, rural setting with open views across meadows. The owners have an organic farm with over 20 Dales ponies of various ages, although they do not run a riding or trekking centre, and several other rare breeds including cattle, sheep, goats and a wild boar cross Tamworth Pig. Birdoswald 2 miles, is one of the best preserved Roman Forts on Hadrian's Wall, designated a World Heritage Site. Vindolanda, Housesteads and the fascinating museum of Roman Military Life at Walltown can easily be reached by car. Brampton 6 miles, has a wide partly cobbled main street ideal for the weekly market and has a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants. Talkin Tarn Country Park just outside Brampton has many activities to enjoy on this 65 acres boating lake set amid 120 acres of grounds. Haltwhistle 6 miles, named the Centre of Britain, has regular bus and train links to Carlisle or Newcastle. Coast to Coast 'The Roman Way' cycle route close by.
