Holiday Cottage Description

Situated in a truly rural and peaceful location with views over open countryside and private access to the River Coquet these lovely stone cottages provide spacious and well appointed accommodation. They have been sympathetically renovated from the original farm buildings and blend perfectly into the surroundings. The landscaped area around the cottages provides visitors with a lovely natural garden in which to relax as well as each cottage having a private patio area. Salmon and trout fishing are available and delightful riverside walks provide the opportunity to see an abundance of wildlife such as herons and kingfishers. Three miles upstream is Brinkburn Priory, built in the reign of Henry 1st it is a cross-shaped building with a low central tower. The priory sits charmingly in a beech wood within a narrow valley beside the River Coquet. It suffered much damage for the duration of the Border Wars but some restoration work was carried out in the mid 19th century by the estate owner. Two miles beyond this is the attractive town of Rothbury, on the outskirts of which stands the magnificent National Trust property of Cragside. The Heritage Coast is 9 miles. Alnwick Castle and Gardens with its spectacular Grand Cascade is 10 miles. Tyneside is 25 miles. Golf and horse riding are available nearby.
