Standing in an elevated position with panoramic views over the Weardale Way these recently built sandstone cottages are ideal for those seeking peace and tranquillity with the additional benefit of relaxing in five star luxury. Located on the owners traditional working hill farm, parts of which date back over 200 years, these award winning cottages have a silver award in the Green Business Scheme and accessibility level 2, hearing level 1 ratings from Visit Britain. The land around Low Cornriggs Farm is registered with English Nature as a Site of Special Scientific Interest due to the unusual fauna and flora. There are frequent opportunities to observe rare birds like Yellow Wagtails, Curlews and Lapwings and a colourful display of wild flowers during the summer. The cottages hold Cyclists and Walkers Welcome accreditation, with many of the National Cycle Network routes and numerous local footpaths passing throughout the region they are a perfect base to rest after a vigorous day exploring the vast expanses of heather clad moorland. Long ago a thriving lead mining industry influenced the landscape providing work and prosperity for much of the local community. Nowadays the mines have been replaced by museums, one of which is The North of England Lead Mining Museum at Killhope.
