Holiday Cottage Description
Standing in an elevated position with panoramic views over the Weardale Way this recently built sandstone cottage is ideal for those seeking peace and tranquillity with the additional benefit of relaxing in five star luxury. Located on the owners traditional working hill farm, parts of which date back over 200 years, this award winning cottage has a silver award in the Green Business Scheme and accessibility level 2, hearing level 1 ratings from Visit Britain. The land around Low Cornriggs Farm is registered with English Nature as a Site of Special Scientific Interest due to the unusual fauna and flora. There are frequent opportunities to observe rare birds like Yellow Wagtails, Curlews and Lapwings and a colourful display of wild flowers during the summer. The cottage holds Cyclists and Walkers Welcome accreditation, with many of the National Cycle Network routes and numerous local footpaths passing throughout the region it is a perfect base to rest after a vigorous day exploring the vast expanses of moorland. High House Chapel at Ireshopeburn, 2 miles, was built in 1760, the founding father being John Wesley. It is the oldest Methodist Chapel in the world and still holds weekly services. Next door in the former manse is the Weardale Museum, where, with the help of modern technology, it is possible to create amazing family trees searching through over 60,000 records.
