Description

If it's a romantic coastal self-catering escape you're looking for, Anchor Cottage is for you. Perfect for a couple, but has an extra twin bedded room. Luxuriously appointed, this idyllic cottage boasts breath-taking uninterrupted views across the North Sea. In this stunning retreat for all seasons, panoramic windows frame the changing tides, while glass Juliet balconies shelter you from the breeze without detracting from the views. Relax with a glass of wine and enjoy captivating sunsets. This jewel of a cottage has been painstakingly renovated to offer a 5 star romantic sanctuary in which to unwind. The attention to detail is faultless, from the stripped beams, wood burning stoves and exposed stonework to the modern bathrooms, beautiful furnishings and dimmer lighting. At the front, there is a pretty cottage garden facing a medieval Pele tower, while at the rear there is a rock garden and a wooden bench strategically placed on the "Bank Top" (the water's edge) from which you can enjoy unrivalled sea views. Cresswell village is at the southern end of Druridge Bay, a tranquil and unspoiled 7 mile stretch of golden sand. Located mid-way between Newcastle and Alnwick the cottage is perfectly situated for touring Northumberland, a region steeped in history with many castles, stately homes and gardens all within easy reach by car. Bird watching, walking, fishing, cycling and golf all available locally.

Testimonials

I can't recommend this cottage enough and we will definitely go back

We've just returned from a lovely week's stay at Anchor Cottage. The cottage is beautiful. It has been renovated to such a high standard whilst keeping the character of the cottage. We were blessed with good weather during the day however the wood burners were invaluable as the evenings were cold. It was so cosy chilling with a bottle of wine, watching the fire. The view from the cottage is stunning and it was a pleasure washing up with such spectacular views. The proprietors have thought of everything and the cottage is so well stocked. They have provided a wealth of information, including lots of tourist information, which we have added to. We arrived to beautiful flowers, milk and the most delicious cake. Tea and cake was most welcome after our long journey.
