Description

Situated along a very quiet bridle way, at the southern edge of Low Hauxley, Beachcombers Retreat stands in an enviable position with unrivalled sea views from the lounge with doors out to a fabulous balcony. The cottage adjoins the owner's home and offers the ultimate in luxury accommodation with the added bonus of being only a few steps from an often deserted sandy beach and a 5 minute walk from the newly renovated Hauxley Wildlife Discovery Centre. This is one of the best wildlife-watching spots in the North East.  Right next to the beach, it offer fantastic views across the length of Druridge Bay and is internationally renowned for its birds.

Coquet Island which can be seen from the balcony or the beach, was featured in the recent series Tales from Northumberland starring Robson Green and more recently BBC’s Country File. This tiny island lies about 1 mile off the coast, it is an RSPB reserve and home to a large colony of nesting seabirds, including comical Puffins and 90 per cent of the UK's Roseate Tern population. It is possible to enjoy a close up view by taking a boat trip from Amble harbour.

Amble about 2 miles, is a thriving fishing port where you can pick up your daily groceries or have a meal in one of the pubs, restaurants or cafes. The region is steeped in ancient history with many castles, some splendid National Trust houses and beautiful ornamental gardens to discover. One of the most notable castles is at the market town of Alnwick, about 10 miles away, made famous in recent times as being the set for the Harry Potter films and Downton Abbey Christmas Special.

National cycle route (1) runs past the property.  It runs from southern England across the border into Scotland.  Cyclists of all levels can take advantage of this. 

Layout

Ground floor - Contemporary style kitchen with cream wooden units, granite work surfaces, led lighting and large wooden table to seat 6, electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge, dishwasher and washing machine.  

Bedroom 1 - Double bed, French door leading to private patio area. 

Bedroom 2 - Zip and link bed can be either double bed or twin beds.  

Shower room and WC.

First floor - Spacious lounge with wooden flooring, flat screen TV with Sky movie package, DVD and doors leading to a balcony with seating and amazing sea views including Coquet Island. 

Bedroom 3 - Double bed, en-suite bathroom with over bath power shower and WC.

Bedroom 4 - Accessed via balcony with the same amazing sea views.  Double bed, large en-suite bathroom with a separate bath and separate large shower cubicle with power shower and WC. This bedroom is available for extra privacy at an extra cost of £250 per week/ £150 short break 3 nights.

Services

Electric air source heat pumps supply the heating and hot water system.  Tumble dryer and freezer in large wooden outhouse which can also be used to store bikes etc.  Wi-Fi.  Highchair available.  South facing enclosed paved area with patio furniture.  Off road parking for 2 cars.  Storage for bikes.  Shops/PO/pubs/restaurants in Amble 2 miles.  Duvets with linen and towels (no beach towels).  2 well behaved pets welcome @ £15 per pet per week.
