Situated in the centre of the pretty village of Lesbury this 18th century cottage has been lovingly restored to provide outstanding holiday accommodation. The village is well placed being only one mile from both the beautiful Heritage Coast and the historic market town of Alnwick.
Alnwick Castle is a favourite haunt for holidaymakers, not only because of the historical interest but also, for the young at heart, to see the location of Hogwarts from the Harry Potter movies. A short walk from the castle and a 3 minute walk from the town centre is the Alnwick Garden, the brainchild of the Duchess of Northumberland. There are many aspects to the garden, some of which include The Grand Cascade, The Poison Garden, The Quiet Garden and The Treehouse which incorporates a fine restaurant.
The village pub in Lesbury serves excellent food and has a wonderful display of flowers in summer. Golf, walking, cycling, sailing and horse riding all available locally.

Access Statement for Close Cottage
Close Cottage provides self-catering facilities for up to 8 people and a baby with the addition of a travel cot.
It is a stone-built end terrace cottage located in the village of Lesbury with parking on the road outside the cottage.
1 medium/large or up to 2 small, well behaved dogs are welcome under strict house rules. The house is not generally suitable for those with disabilities, being constructed with 2 floors with the bedroom and bathroom on the upper floor accessed by a staircase. However, the house is located in the centre of a village with a village shop, a post office and a village pub, all of which can be accessed on a level, with nothing more than a slight inclines and roadside curbs to negotiate.
A house telephone is provided, which has outgoing calls barred. Incoming calls are permitted free of charge. The telephone number of the cottage can be provided alongside directions and key collection instructions. Calls to emergency numbers are free of charge. Mobile reception is very limited within the cottage but clearer outside the cottage.
Smoke detectors are provided on both floors of the cottage and a fire blanket and first aid kit is provided in the kitchen.
No smoking is permitted in the house.
Arrival and Car Parking Facilities
Parking for 2 cars is available on the roadside outside the cottage. There is also a car park just after the village shop and post office.
Entry into the property
From the roadside, access to the house is via a level garden path. Access to the house is by the front doorway only. The front door has no steps but a shallow thresh into a small hallway. The front door is timber, part glazed with glass. There is both a Yale and traditional lock at mid and lower height. 1 key is required to open the door.
Keys for gaining access to the cottage are retrieved from a key safe located to the left side of front door, on the garden wall and has a combination lock. A code is provided alongside directions prior to arrival

There are metal or wooden threshes at the doorways between most rooms. Contrast between flooring, skirting and doors is good.
The hallway and kitchen are fitted with stone flooring. The lounges and bedroom floors are carpeted. The bathroom floors are tiled.
Hall, stairs, landing, corridors etc.
The house has 2 stories, accessed by carpeted stairs. There is no lift. Each floor has steps between areas within one floor. The stairs consist of 1 main flight onto a small landing, then up one step onto the landing. There is a banister rail for the full length of the main flight. Lighting is very good.
A stairgate is situated at the bottom of the stairs to help prevent dogs gaining access to the bedroom, as per the booking conditions.
The lounge is accessed from the hallway via an original wood door with a latch. The lounge is carpeted with a rug in front of the fireplace. There is a large 3-seater and 2-seater fabric covered settee, along with an armchair. There is a large coffee table in front of the open stone fireplace with wood burning stove. There is a small occasional table with a table lamp along with a further table lamp on the cabinet that holds drinking glasses.
The main lounge leads to the open plan dining area with a step up to the dining table to seat 8 people along with dining chairs. There is a wood burning stove housed in a sandstone inglenook fireplace for which an initial supply of logs, kindling and firelighters are provided between October and April. Further supplies can be purchased locally, including from the village store, which is around 100 yards from the cottage.
There is a bookcase in the second lounge full of books and DVDs. There is a large flat screen digital TV located in both lounges which has a DVD player and Freeview channels. Instructions for all equipment in the cottage can be found in a folder under the bookcase. Lighting in the lounge/dining area is excellent.
The second lounge is accessed from the hallway or the kitchen and there are two, two-seater fabric covered settees. There is a further open stone fireplace with log burning stove with coffee table and rug in front of the fire.
The kitchen is on the ground floor, with a step up from the hall and main lounge. Located to the rear of the cottage giving an open plan effect. Lighting is very good. Window looking out to rear enclosed walled courtyard.
Kitchen appliances and facilities:
- Electric 45cm stainless steel electric fan assisted oven and a ceramic 4 ring hob
- Large free-standing fridge/freezer
- Electric kettle and toaster
Crockery, cups, mugs, pans and cooking dishes are stored at below bench height level. Cutlery stored at waste height.
The boiler is situated in the corner of the kitchen in a cupboard to the rear of the cottage. The boiler is set by the owners according to the season and a timer programme unit is situated on the boiler, which is again set by the owners but can be altered if necessary. The refuse bins are located in the rear courtyard.
There are 2 double size bedrooms located on the first floor; both are fully carpeted with bedside rugs. All on one level.
The master bedroom with en-suite is spacious with high ceilings and exposed beams and has a king-sized bed with a medium pocket sprung mattress. Pillows and bedding are synthetic. There are windows to the front providing a good deal of natural light. There is a bed side table with a table lamp on.
There is a cast-iron non-functioning fireplace with a rug in front, a double wardrobe and 1 chest of drawers and a dressing table with stool.
The second bedroom mirrors the master bedroom however it does not have an en-suite.
The en-suite in the master bedroom has a window to the front of the cottage with a wooden venetian blind and comprises of a double shower, toilet and wash hand basin. The waste from the en-suite is extracted by a sani flow system due to the age of the cottage. The floor is ceramic tiles with under floor heating.
Bedrooms 2 and 3 are situated to the rear of the property each are carpeted and have windows overlooking the rear courtyard. Each comprise of 2 singled bed, 1 bedside cabinet with lamp and a double wardrobe with mirror.
The bathroom is situated on the first floor, adjacent to the bedroom accessed from a landing area. It comprises of a large full-size bath, low level WC and basin style sink. Mirror above sink. Natural light is provided by a window. The flooring is ceramic tiles. There is an extractor fan. There is a central heated towel rail inside the double walk in shower with glass shower screen and under floor heating.
Close Cottage has a walled grassed garden to the front with a garden gate, shrubs and double seat. To the rear there is a walled enclosed courtyard with table and chairs to sit out in.
Emergency torches are provided.
