This carefully modernised single storey cottage, frequently used by the owners, is a cosy retreat in a rural setting, yet only a short drive from the coast at Bamburgh with its magnificent castle and beach, or the historic Holy Island, just a few miles north.
Situated on the edge of a working farm just outside the old coaching village of Belford, Burn Bank Cottage is well placed for enjoying the delights of the local wildlife - around the farm deer and fox are often to be seen and from the cottage you can sometimes even spot red squirrels. The tranquil area is also a joy for bird-watchers with curlews, amongst others, frequently to be seen. From the doorstep there are lovely walks to be enjoyed, perhaps with your dog, along the open lanes or the footpath beside the stream up onto the moor behind. Back at the cottage the spectacular conservatory affords extensive countryside views behind the cottage, or cosy up to the traditional wood-burner in the sitting room.
Belford, less than two miles away, has a choice of pubs, hotel, newsagent, mini supermarket and craft shop with small gallery. Only a ten minute drive away is the small village of Chatton with an art gallery, post office/shop and a local pub, the Percy Arms. Why not call in on the way home from a day trip seeing Chillingham Castle, the Cup and Ring Marked Stones on Chatton Park Hill and the Wild Chillingham Cattle - all of which are only a short drive away from Burn Bank Cottage.

comfortable, clean, convenient for walking with dogsArchibald Strang - 12th October 2019
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this cottage. It is in such a beautiful spot with great views all around and you instantly feel relaxed when you arrive. It is very spacious and tastefully furnished and you have everything you need. Great too to be able to avail of all the maps of the area and walking guides - very useful! Lovely walks from the doorstep too. Northumberland is so beautiful and we hope to return again soon to explore more.Mrs Joy Morrow - 3rd September 2019
A very comfortable well equipped cottage. A lovely area and within easy reach of the coast. Mrs Sheila Jones - 19th July 2019
Once again we are back at Burn Bank. It's just as cosy and comfortable as ever. Walks around the cottage brilliant just the place to chill out - 5th April 2019
Excellent cottage lovely location. Well laid out , the conservatory on the has a lovely view. And the multi fuel stove keeps you lovely and warm. - 4th October 2018
As Burn Bank Cottage is on a working farm it was perfect for us. The cottage itself was very well equipped it had everything we needed, it was very comfortable and having the conservatory was a definite bonus, we spent many hours sitting on the very comfortable chairs watching the wildlife. If you want to get away from it all this is the place for you, but you are only a short drive away from many of the attractions Northumberland has to offer. - 26th September 2018
Our second visit to Burn Bank cottage; the first five years ago. A really beautiful and peaceful location amongst stunning countryside with lovely views, wildlife, some inquisitive cattle in the field next to the back garden and during sunny weather, amazing skies and sun sets. Very comfortable and well equipped inside and the large conservatory is perfect to sit and eat and relax whilst taking in the wonderful scenery. Walks on the doorstep to keep a happy holiday dog even happier. Also a perfect base for visiting many nearby beaches and inumerable local sights.l - 16th May 2018
This was a return visit to Burn Bank. Cottage was comfortable cosy and warm especial when the stove as on.. Lovely walks and close to the coast. - 5th April 2018
This was our first visit to Burn Bank Cottage. It's a lovely, spacious and well equipped cottage. If you like walking then you'll like this place as there is a lot of open countryside to explore straight from the front door (i.e. without having to get in the car). This is also a very dog friendly/safe cottage with a small and secure fenced-in garden. Clearly, the cottage is located on a working farm so there are the occasional farm vehicles passing by but this didn't cause any problems. In fact, because the cottage is well away from the road, up a track, it's actually very peaceful in deed. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this cottage to others and are looking to return, perhaps, at a different time of year. - 24th January 2018
Burn Bank Cottage is an ideal place to stay as it is close but not too close to the Northumberland coastline and everything that has to offer the visitor. Local amenities are excellent with a nearby supermarket and a choice of good eating places and pubs. - 19th October 2017
Excellent cottage, would not hesitate to return. Stay Northumberland were excellent regarding communication etc. - 3rd October 2017
Lovely spacious cottage in a quiet location, with absolutely everything we needed for a lovely week away. Totally dog friendly and welcoming which makes us all happy too. - 30th August 2017
A return visit which was better than last time. The addition of the freezer was great. The accommodation was up the high standard that we had before and despite the weather we had a very relaxing time. The information that was available regarding local tourist attractions and facilities was great in deciding what else to do. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for somewhere quiet and relaxing. MIL loved that the cows visited every day and she sat out in the conservatory everyday looking for them! - 11th August 2017
This cottage was the end terrace of a row of cottages on the edge of a farm. It was very peaceful. The surrounding fields were planted in crops. There were cattle in a field in the distance. Absolutely everything one could require was provided in the cottage and it was very comfortable. There were 2 bedrooms , a bathroom and a showerroom ensuite with the double bedroom. A small Wifi unit was provided but we found the signal variable - the only problem. - 23rd June 2017
Our fourth year staying at Burn Bank, with hopefully many more years to come! We feel so at home here, as does Tag our Jack Russel! - 9th June 2017
We have been several times to the cottage and love it. Disappointed that we couldn't find any info on locations of doctors. My husband has been very ill and although we managed a week of relatively good health, we had to find this information out ourselves on arrival as we may have needed some help. - 31st May 2017
An excellent base for visiting all the nearby attractions. It is a very quiet and comfortable location and most enjoyable relaxing in the conservatory in the evenings where we were joined by the bull from the field next door. We have no hesitation in recommending Burn Bank cottage. - 26th September 2016
The cottage was very welcoming and we settled in right away. Everything had been provided. It was in a good place to be able to go out every day to visit the sights. We did not have any problems and would recommend the cottage. - 29th June 2016
I have already spoken to your team at Northumberland coastal cottages and they have been very helpful. I planned and looked forward to this visit for months. We had no Wfi this was very important to us as there was no mobile phone coverage and I use this to obtain information about the area and times weather etc. Because of this we were unable to land on the farne islands because of not being able to obtain the weather for the day. Also Alnwick garden was closed due to a garden party which we found out on arriving. I could have obtained all this from Wfi which was advertised as available The information leaflet said that if the previous owner had used up all the Wfi for the month it would not be accessible???. there were no bbc channels on the TV even though I reset Tv several times. This was a little annoying as it was the football week. The only walk from the cottages was not accessible due to calves in field which is fine. but I thought on info there would be other areas. I also felt I was living in someone else's house which was a little uncomfortable. This makes me sound such a moaner but we were so disappointed after having planned this for so long. - 22nd June 2016
The beds were too hard for us. The BBC channels on the TV were either unobtainable or fairly poor. The WiFi gave out on Thursday with a message that the monthly limit had been reached. We did not download films games or anything like that we only used it for emails and facebook. - 22nd June 2016
This was our first time in Northumberland and we loved it. The cottage is on a working farm and with a few other cottages so it was quiet, but you are not alone! We enjoyed the cows in the rear field. The location is great for accessing the beach and coastal castles but also pretty close to the National Park, where we went for a few walks. The cottage itself was well equipped and comfortable. We shall be going back. - 8th June 2016
B B Cottage, feels like home to all five of us, every time we stay there. Leaving is the hardest part. A truly perfect cottage in an idyllic setting. - 3rd June 2016
This was a quiet and relaxing place to stay with lots of lovely walks both on site and in the nearby area. We would definitely stay there again and would recommend the cottage to anyone who wants to get away from the rat race for a while. - 26th May 2016
Cannot express enough the great holiday we had at Burn Bank Cottage. The location was spot on, we felt relaxed and revived, close to moorland, coast and shops if you want retail therapy. Food fantastic in all pubs and cafes we visited. Dog friendly area. Thank you for such a great break. - 18th May 2016
My daughter, Budley (my springer) and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cottage was just what we wanted - such a quiet location and sitting in the conservatory was just wonderful (very warm, lovely views, plenty of wildlife such as roe deer and kestrels, and totally relaxing.) We loved the surrounding areas too - Bambourgh and the walk from Beadnell to Low Newton.A fabulous holiday. - 24th April 2016
On this, our first visit to this cottage, we found quite an amount of cupboard space taken up by what appeared to be the owners food and drink items, including a full wine rack! Limiting the cupboard space available for our two week stay. There was also some confusion as to where a change of linen for the second week was, after e-mailing the booking agency and speaking to the owners sister, this was resolved satisfactorily. Other than these two criticisms, the cottage was excellent, more than warm enough, with us on most days having to reduce the heating. The conservatory was lovely with the open outlook, with deer seen on several occasions, and many birds also; the location for us was perfect, so peaceful with very little noise at all from the farm. We only wished we could have remained longer in the peaceful environment. We would not hesitate to recommend this property to others. - 19th November 2015
Burn bank Cottage was a lovely cottage very comfortable and set in a beautiful location . View from the conservatory / sunroom was excellent and you could see the deer and other wildlife. Only 20 min /30 min from the beautiful coastline at Bamburgh. Would come back.. Can definitely recommend it Hope to return. - 4th November 2015
Our 5th stay here and that speaks for itself! We spent the week walking on the beach at Bamburgh, fishing at Chatton and watching the calves in the field from the conservatory. - 23rd September 2015
This typical Northumbrian cottage, is ideally located and offers the most sensational conservatory to the rear of the property. We will definitely want to stay at Burn Bank Cottage again. - 20th August 2015
We enjoyed a lovely week in Notthumberland staying at Burn Bank Cottage. The location is beautiful on a working farm, but no noise or commotion so wonderfully relaxing and peaceful on an evening. Belford is a quick drive down the road where you can pick up pretty much everything you would need, and access to the rest of Northumberland is good with the A1 being another couple of minutes past Belford. A great place to holiday. - 29th July 2015
Didn't feel welcome as no acknowledgment from the farm. There should also be some guidance on where you can walk on the farm in stead of feeling in the way. The place looked a little more weary than last year, dirty carpet in conservatory, kettle had a screw missing on the handle, leg on one of the chairs came off, had to screw it back on, wouldn't have given it a 4* rating this year. People usually stay on farms because they enjoy seeing the animals etc., everything was too far away this year. I won't be going back there for a third time. - 16th July 2015
We love the cottage, the area, Steve fishes at Chatton, and everything is perfect. Particularly like the wifi as the o2 phone signal there is terrible! - 3rd June 2015
I have been lucky enough to have stayed here a few times now including Christmas last year and it is just like home nothing to much trouble everything you need and more. Wonderful working farm and yes you can feed the cows get fields to work through our boxer dog loved plus a great log burning Fire which is great to come back to on a cold evening. And of course the wonderful coast of northumberland too ideal for me as my family are from the area so a massive bonus for us will deafo return to burn bank . 100/100 happy!!!!!! - 5th November 2014
If you have never been to Northumberland you must go.. If you have visited before, go again, and let for Burn Bank Cottage be your base for exploring the area from Berwick to Amble, North to south and as far West as your fancy takes you. - 17th September 2014
