Description

5 star gold

Leaholme Cottage is situated in the quiet picturesque village of High Newton-by-the-Sea, with access to three of the most stunning sandy beaches in Northumberland:  Low Newton (St Mary's Haven), Newton Links (on Beadnell Bay), and Football Hole ('the secret beach').

This gorgeous house sleeps up to eight guests in four double bedrooms (please note there is a normal occupancy restriction of six adults and two children).  There are two bathrooms, one of which is on the ground floor.  Both reception rooms boast traditional open coal fires, so it really is perfect for breaks at any time of year.

The location of the house could not be better, as it is only a few minutes' walk from the renowned, award-winning wedding venue of Newton Hall and just 100 metres from the well-known Joiner's Arms gastropub.  The house is also just a ten-minute stroll from three of the best beaches on the stunning Northumberland coast.  The Ship Inn at Low Newton has been voted by The Times as one of the best coastal pubs in the country, serving locally caught seafood and home grown produce as well as a selection of real ales from its on-site microbrewery.

The nearby village of Embleton has a small shop/post office, petrol station, golf club, and three pubs. Slightly farther to the south is the fishing village of Craster, where the Jolly Fisherman pub provides good food, and there is a coastal walk to the imposing Dunstanburgh Castle.  Seahouses is the nearest town, just six miles away.  Seahouses is a bustling seaside town with a working harbour and a fish smokery in the old quarter.  There are lots of shops, restaurants and gift shops, as well the best fish and chips for miles.  There is also St Aiden's beach, which has views of Bamburgh Castle in the distance.  Bamburgh, a few miles farther north, is a quaint village that has lots to offer in term of old-world charm and history, and regularly features on film and TV.  Inland, 20 minutes away, is the market town of Alnwick, famous for its castle and garden, where you will find a wide variety of shops, supermarkets, places to eat and other services.  A regular local bus service joins Alnwick and the coastal villages, including High Newton-by-the-Sea, so it is possible to walk the coastal path without needing a car.

Ground floor - Lounge - Facing the front garden, the lounge is accessed via a spacious central hallway and boasts an original marble fireplace surrounding a working open fire, smart TV with Freeview and a DVD player. There is a good selection of books, magazines, DVDs and board games catering for all tastes.

Dining Room - Accessed from the central hallway, the dining room is also at the front of the house.  It has an open fireplace and a dining table that can seat eight guests comfortably.  There is also a large, wall-mounted Smart TV, an Xbox 360 games console and a DVD player.

Kitchen - Modern country feel with solid-wood cabinets and solid stone worktops. Glazed French patio doors lead out to a furnished stone patio in the back garden.  Rangemaster electric cooker, fridge, freezer, microwave, dishwasher and espresso coffee maker.  An oak breakfast bar provides informal dining seating for four.  There is a compact hi-fi with a Bluetooth docking station.

Utility/Boot Room - Accessed by an external side door and leading into the central hallway, second drinks fridge, washer/dryer and a wooden, ceiling-mounted clothes dryer.  A warm spacious room separate from the main living area, this is an ideal space for dogs. Dog beds, fleece dog blankets, and bowls are provided on request.

Ground floor Shower Room - Accessed from the central hallway, this room contains a large walk-in shower, WC and heated towel rail.  Luxury toiletries are provided.

First floor -  Master Bedroom - King-size bed with a luxury memory foam mattress, wall mounted Smart TV and an original feature fireplace. It enjoys views over the front garden and the quiet village beyond.

Bedroom 2 - King-size bed with a cool memory foam mattress and an original feature fireplace.

Bedroom 3 - Twin bedroom facing the back garden and with a view over the fields towards the sea.

Bedroom 4 - Twin bedroom with views over the fields and the sea in the distance.

Family Bathroom - Traditional bathroom with free-standing roll-top bath with views over the countryside towards the sea, heated towel rail and WC.

The private back garden is south facing and completely enclosed by a secure fence that is safe for children and dogs. There is a stone patio with garden furniture, and a charcoal BBQ is also available. For younger guests, there is also the added benefit of a treehouse with slide. There is also a shed containing a selection of bodyboards, wetsuits, beach toys and picnic furniture, all of which guests are free to use. To the front, there is an open lawned garden surrounded by borders and bench seating.

Electricity and heating included.  Open fire - initial supply of fuel provided.  There is free superfast broadband Wi-Fi.  Telephone for incoming calls only (outgoing calls to emergency and freefone numbers only).  Duvets with linen and towels.  2 Travel cots and a highchair available on request.  Dogs very welcome @ £20 per pet.  We provide free beds, fleece blankets and treats.  The secure enclosed back garden ensures that your dog will be safe.  Both local pubs are dog friendly too.  A dog sitting service may be available on request.  To the side of the house is a driveway with space for three cars.  There is also a free village car park a couple of minutes' walk away.
