Description

Situated on a working farm in the village of Milton close to the Northumbrian and Cumbrian border, nestling in the foothills of the North Pennines, The Stable, The Byre and The Dairy are a row of three stone built cottages and Swallow, Swift, The Barn, The Hayloft and Dove Cottages are all skilfully converted from farm buildings and an old dairy. During the restoration many original features like beamed ceilings and exposed stonework have been carefully retained. The cottages provide a superb base from which to explore this region. Here you will find wild fells, stunning views and peaceful walks under big skies. Hadrian's Wall is nearby with the forts of Birdoswald, Housesteads and Vindolanda all within a short drive. The North Pennines are equally accessible, this area is justly described as "England's Last Wilderness" and righty designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Part of this area is the RSPB Geltsdale Reserve, it is home to black grouse, birds of prey and breeding wading birds. It is ideal for walking with 4 way-marked trails, a parking area and a visitor centre. The market town of Brampton is just 2 miles with a good range of shops and amenities, whilst the Border City of Carlisle is just 10 miles. There are many footpaths and bridleways nearby including Gelt Woods and Talkin Tarn Country Park just 3 miles where you can enjoy sailing, rowing, fishing or relax with a picnic.

Accommodation all on one level (some internal steps)

Lounge area with wood burning stove, TV, DVD, CD radio, adjoining a summer room with dining table and door out to private decked area with patio furniture. 

Kitchen area with electric oven and ceramic hob, microwave, fridge, freezer and dishwasher.

Bedroom 1 - Double bed. 

Bathroom with over bath electric shower and WC. 

Electricity and night storage heating included.  Starter fuel for stoves provided.  Large shared lawned garden.  Duvets with linen and towels.  1 pet welcome in each cottage @ £15 per week.  Most rooms have original exposed beamed ceilings.

FRIDAY TO FRIDAY

All 7 Cottages have shared use of Summer house and hot tub all year round @ £40 per week or £20 per short break, payable direct to owner on arrival (use is by direct arrangement with owner).

The parking available is off road private parking

The is ample space to load and unload a car

The parking surface is gravel and level

The parking is approx. 12 metres from cottage door

From the parking there are 3 steps up to cottage door

From the car park area there 4 steps up to the path which is gravel and 1 metre wide to the cottage door

 

MAIN ENTRANCE DOOR

The main entrance door is 32 inches wide and 77 inches high with the keyhole 38 inches high

After the 3 steps up to the decking there is a small threshold at the entrance door

 

GLASS PORCH

There is a dining table and 2 chairs in the glass porch

 

LOUNGE

There is a log burning stove in the lounge

The furniture is all moveable with space around the furniture

 

KITCHEN

There are 2 steps up from the lounge to the kitchen

There is no door to the kitchen the gap is 28 inches wide

The kitchen area has a vinyl floor covering

The worktops are 36 inches high

The oven is set low

The fridge is set high

The freezer is set low

The crockery is stored high

The bedroom doorways are 30 inches wide

The double bed is 4ft 6 inches

All bedroom furniture is moveable

The main bathroom has a p-shaped bath with no grab rail with an over bath shower

The bathroom door is 30 inches wide

The bathroom floor is vinyl

 

OUTDOOR FACILITIES

External area is decking outside the cottage door

There is garden furniture consisting of a small table and chairs, all moveable

The is an outside light at the cottage main entrance

The path to the cottage is gravel and 18 inches wide, it is not marked with a contrasting colour

There are no ponds or water features in the garden

There is a shared hot tub available for guests which is approx. 30 metres from the cottage across a gravelled parking area, a gravel path on an incline and a lawn

 

GENERAL INFORMATION

There is no landline for guests

Mobile reception is good with major phone networks

The electrical sockets are easily accessible without moving furniture and are generally set low

There are no speciality alarms provided for hearing or sight impaired guests
