Just a 20 minute drive will take you to the quayside at Newcastle upon Tyne, noted for its array of bars, restaurants, cafes and shops, or the Intu Metrocentre in Gateshead with a huge selection of shops. This cottage is a perfect retreat to unwind after exploring the many nearby Roman Forts including Vindolanda, Housesteads and Chesters. Walking, fishing and golf all available locally.
10 miles west is the market town of Hexham, famous for its medieval Abbey. A picturesque route along the North Tyne valley leads to Kielder Water with its numerous leisure facilities such as sailing, windsurfing and fishing and miles of forest tracks.

We had a really great holiday in the area. The property was fantastic and we have truly never stayed in a better holiday rental in the U.K. The hosts truly went that extra step to make us feel welcome, the weather on the way up had been awful and the heating had been put on so the propertywas lovely and warm on arrival. Kitchen well equipped and comfortable bed. Some lovely extras had been left for us, milk,crisps, flowers and home made carrot cake. We did not use them but there were videos, CDs and games there.
