Introduction
The cottage was built over 200 years ago of local whinstone and originally for shepherds and their families. Two bedrooms were made in the roof space early in the 20th century and more recently an extension with the kitchen and bathroom was added to the rear. Access is via the back door directlyto the kitchen which has a door into the sitting / dining room, from which separate doors open directly to the ground floor bathroom and to the staircase up to the bedrooms. The original stone walls on the ground floor are approx. 0.5 metres thick. Floor coverings are vinyl in the kitchen, stone tiles in the bathroom, carpet in the other rooms, carpet treads on the stairs and some pine boards in the dining area. There is an enclosed rear garden.
Arrival / parking
There is x1 parking space 20m uphill of the cottage. It is the first space, the other x2 spaces belonging to the next door cottage. There is an entry track before and beside the cottage which is shared with x2 other properties and can be used to load / unload only, but strictly no parking there at any time of the day or night.
Main entrance
X1 step up (11cm) to garden gate (width 42cm), then x1 step up (18cm) through back door (width 81cm) which opens into the kitchen.
Kitchen
The kitchen/diner has wall and floor cupboards, work surface (height 91cm), built in oven and washing machine below the work surface, hob at work surface level, free standing fridge freeze with microwave above and double door larder cupboard. Hot water to the kitchen and bathroom are from the wall mounted Worcester Bosch boiler. There is a gate leg table (height 71.5cm), x2 chairs and x4 low level stools. The kitchen leads into the sitting / dining room through the external whinstone cottage wall which makes a short, narrow passage (0.5m long) and via a door (width 71.5 - 73cm)
Open plan sitting and dining room
Lower level has a traditional 3 seater sofa, x1 high back wing chair, TV, inglenook with log burner.
Upper level There is a step up (23cm) onto the raised pine platform which has low level fixed bookshelves along one side, x1 high back wing chair, a traditional gate leg oval table (height 75cm) and x4 dining chairs.
Bathroom (ground floor)
Access is from the sitting room via a door (width 66cm) and again through the external whinstone cottage wall which makes a short, narrow passage (0.5m long). There is a built in washbasin, toilet and walk in corner shower unit. The Dimplex heater is wall mounted.
Enclosed staircase, leading to first floor bedrooms. The short, curving built in staircase is accessed via a door (width 73.5cm) from the sitting room withan immediate 90 degree turn to get onto the stairs. The width of the stairwell varies from 75cm at the base, narrowing to 66cm at the top. There are x14 steps up. The width of the stairs is approx. the same as the width of the stairwell with the stair treads being 66cm wide at the base and 61 cm wide at the top. There is another 90 degree bend near the top of the stairs. Access to both bedrooms via separate doors (67/68cms wide) is via a short, narrow passage (76cm wide, 1.7m long) which leads off the stairs. Low Ceiling upstairs (189.5cm) and both bedrooms have “T Fall roofs” into the eaves of the roof.
Bedroom 1
has a king size double bed, double wardrobe, x3 chests of drawers.
Bedroom 2
has x2 single beds (standard height), x1 tall chest of drawers. Care needs to be taken getting
between and out of the single beds because of the “T” Fall roof.
