Standing in an elevated position with panoramic views over the Weardale Way these sandstone cottages are ideal for those seeking peace and tranquillity with the additional benefit of relaxing in five star luxury. They are located on the owners traditional working hill farm, parts of which date back over 200 years. The land around Low Cornriggs Farm is registered with English Nature as a Site of Special Scientific Interest due to the wonderful wild flower meadows which peak from the end of May to the beginning of July and the abundance of unusual fauna and flora. There are frequent opportunities to observe rare birds like Yellow Wagtails, Curlews and Lapwings and a colourful display of wild flowers during the summer. With many of the National Cycle Network routes and numerous local footpaths passing throughout the region, this is a perfect base to rest after a vigorous day exploring the vast expanses of heather clad moorland. Long ago a thriving lead mining industry influenced the landscape and provided work and prosperity for much of the local community. Nowadays the mines have been replaced by museums, one of which is The North of England Lead Mining Museum at Killhope. The spectacular waterfall of High Force is a short drive, here the River Tees plunges straight down 70 feet, the highest single drop waterfall in England. Pub 1 mile. Shop/PO 4 miles. Durham 35 miles. Beamish and Hadrian's Wall a short drive. Near to Allenheads and the Coast to Coast Cycle route. Walking, cycling, fishing all available locally.
