Pet Friendly Holiday Cottages
We have a great selection of dog friendly holiday cottages to choose from, in fact we have over 100 in a variety of locations across the region, ensuring the whole family can enjoy a break away and a refreshing change of scenery. And, where better to choose for your next holiday destination than Northumberland, where dogs are welcome all year round to explore the breathtaking scenery of its award-winning coast and countryside.
With 39 miles of coastline to discover, you and your four-legged friend will not be short of some great days out at the beach; whether it be for a paddle in the sea, a run along the golden sandy beaches or a relaxing stroll by your side along the miles of scenic coastal paths.
Many of our cottages offer endless walks right from your doorstep, ensuring you get to experience the most out of each day. Take the popular coastal path from the fishing village of Craster to the iconic Dunstanburgh Castle, where dogs are free to roam around these dramatic 13th Century castle ruins.
Exploring the Northumberland countryside with your dog will give you the feeling of complete escapism. From climbing the Cheviot Hills and the Simonside Hills in the heart of the Coquet Valley, to visiting the Northumberland National Park, Europe’s largest area of protected night sky, which provides perfect star gazing opportunities and stunning walking routes, (with lots of excellent sniffing opportunities!) in the colourful open moorland and along scenic forest trails. Follow in the footsteps of the Romans, by visiting the popular Hadrian’s Wall UNESCO World Heritage Site, or visit some spectacular waterfalls such as Crammel Linn in Brampton and Hareshaw Linn in Hexham where your dog can have a refreshing dip in the water and enjoy a cool drink from some of the cleanest river waters in England.
When you are ready to take a break, you don’t need to worry about where you can take your canine friend, as many café’s, pubs and restaurants are happy to welcome dogs in Northumberland and some even provide refreshments and treats for your four-legged friend too, ensuring everyone is well catered for!
At the end of an exhilarating day exploring this wonderful region, return to the comfort of your holiday cottage. Many of our dog friendly holiday cottages have enclosed gardens or outdoor space that both you and your dog can enjoy during your stay. A selection of our cottages also feature cosy wood-burning stoves or open fires, which your dog (and you) will love to relax in front of on a cool evening.
