Over 60 years ago, this superb ground floor flat was the waiting rooms and ticket office of the now closed Hexham to Allendale railway line. After undergoing a full renovation, you can have a luxurious break, a mile from the bustling village of Allendale in the North Pennines. The accommodation is all on one level and open plan which gives a sense of space. The main feature of the living area is the original stone fireplace housing a log burning stove creating a warm cosy environment. Located on Allendale Caravan Park, a small eco-park and has been awarded the ‘gold’ accreditation on the David Bellamy Conservation Award scheme for the past 14 years. Conservation is important and a huge range of wildlife visits the park and there is a great array of wild flowers on the old railway embankments and along the woodland walk. All caravans are privately owned providing a peaceful atmosphere.
Northumberland has great dark skies and the North Pennines has 20 dark sky discovery sites, the nearest is 2.5 miles away at Allendale Golf Club. There are also events at the North Pennines Observatory. The aurora is sometimes visible in this area. Hadrian’s Wall is just over 10 miles away.
